OUR STORY.

It was 1952 when Bill Friesen bought Dunvegan gardens. Bill and Hilda raised a beautiful family. Ron had always taken a great interest in what his dad was doing at the farm so he continued the farming tradition. Ron married Pauline and went on to have 3 sons of their own. Eventually all 3 would go on to greenhouse and gardening in Edmonton and Fort McMurray. Trent, like his own father, always had an interest in coming home to Dunvegan. So that’s what we’ve done!!
It was 1952…
As time passed, Trent and his family moved from Fort McMurray back to Dunvegan and started to plan a full life as a farming family. Continuing to grow flowers, vegetables, fruit and raising their own bison!
On January 1, 2012, Trent started a side business with Bison and today they roam the hills of Dunvegan! Bison were the perfect fit as they require very little attention and are very much still wild animals. Over the years, there have been a lot of changes but the one thing that has never changed is the amazing beauty and goodness at Dunvegan.
We’re still growing sweet corn, an amazing variety of fresh garden vegetables, the most delightful tasting strawberries (that we are incredibly proud of), a wide variety of carefully nurtured bedding plants, and also providing our very own meat sales with bison down here in the Peace River Valley. We have moved away from the traditional giftware items and have moved on to supporting other local vendors and selling things that all people need - food!
We also have a Kitchen on site that serves the most amazing bison burgers, flautas, wraps, homemade soups and bison chilli and other fried appetizers, hot beverages such as coffee, tea, hot chocolate, espresso, French vanilla drinks and chai drinks!
For family fun, we have a 9-hole mini put/golf course, anda 16 flavour selection of hard scoop ice cream (plus a selection of novelty ice cream) as well!
